Incident Details
On the day of the Dundee derby, Canadian international Owen Goodman, on loan from Crystal Palace, was struck by a missile thrown from the Eddie Thompson Stand while taking a goal kick. The match ended 2-0 in favour of Dundee, with goals from Drey Wright and Owen Bevan.
Police Response
Goodman was interviewed by police at full-time. Constable Matthew Boath said the player was not injured and that an investigation was underway. Police are working with both Dundee clubs to identify the individual responsible and have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 101, citing incident number 2015 of 22 August 2026.
Previous Incidents
Tannadice has seen similar incidents: in March last year a vape was thrown at Dundee striker Simon Murray, and two months later Aberdeen player Jack MacKenzie was injured by a plastic chair thrown by a supporter, who was later sentenced to 18 months in prison and given a 10-year football banning order.
Club Reactions
Dundee manager Steven Pressley said he was made aware of the incident but was unsure of the details. Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin did not comment on the event.
