Derby County is considering a loan move for Manchester City striker Divin Mubama, with the player having already held preliminary conversations with the Rams.
Mubama, 21, scored five goals on loan at Stoke last season before an ankle injury cut short his campaign.
The injury, sustained following a challenge from QPR's Jimmy Dunne in January, was severe enough for Mubama to initially fear he had broken his leg.
Derby County, currently 8th in the Championship with 69 points from 46 games, recent form LWLWL, and 26 points behind leaders Coventry, is one of several Championship clubs interested in signing Mubama on loan.
Middlesbrough and Preston North End have also made formal approaches, with further clubs potentially entering the picture for his signature as awareness of his availability and recovery from injury spreads.
A second loan move to the Championship would represent the logical next step in a development plan that was disrupted but not derailed by January's injury, with a full season ahead and the potential for Mubama to make a tangible impact on a promotion push.
