Derby County's former goalkeeping coach Andy Warrington has left Rotherham United, the club has confirmed. Warrington was a key member of Paul Warne's staff at Pride Park. He joined the Millers with former Rams first-team coach Matt Hamshaw after their departures from Pride Park last year. The pair have a long association with Rotherham where they were part of a hugely successful era under Paul Warne who brought the duo with him to Derby when appointed in 2022. But Hamshaw left the club in March earlier this year after a poor run of form and now, Warrington has followed through the exit door. Rotherham United can confirm that the club has parted ways with goalkeeper coach Andy Warrington with his departure part of a restructuring of the first team staff. Andy, who served the Millers with distinction as a player and later enjoyed fantastic success on the coaching staff of Paul Warne, rejoined the club upon the appointment of Matt Hamshaw and leaves AESSEAL New York Stadium ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The 49-year-old leaves with the utmost respect of everyone here at Rotherham United and with our thanks and very best wishes for the future. Warrington was a key member of Warne's staff at Derby where he was tasked with working with the goalkeepers during which time Joe Wildsmith picked up the golden gloves award following promotion to the Championship. He then worked with Jacob Widell Zetterstrom and Josh Vickers in the 2024/25 season before he left the club following the arrival of John Eustace as head coach. Warrington's departure from Rotherham comes after former Derby County boss Steve McClaren took up a position as the club's head of football. The Millers are yet to appoint a new manager having been previously linked with Ian Burchnall, the former Notts County manager. However, a deal has not been agreed and Mat Sadler, the former Walsall manager, is now favourite for the position. Derby are due to face Rotherham in a pre-season friendly on August 4, (7.30pm) as part of their preparations for the new Championship season.
